Mind is the by-product of the society. You need it when you communicate with people but it is unnecessary when you are alone. Thinking when you are alone is not different than you speak out loud alone. It is crazy that you talk with yourself, so it is the same case when you think when you are alone.
When you are alone, you can put your mind aside. Mind keeps going the stream of thoughts from the past the you have experienced so far. Some of thoughts rely on the future but it cannot created without the past. When you feel good in something, you will repeat it again in the future. If not, then you “will” avoid it.
Therefore, mind knows nothing about the present time but the past. During meditation, thoughts come to you somehow. When you notice that you are thinking, listen to what you really hear. You may think about your work but actually the bird are singing around you. When you think, you miss the present.
If you miss the present, you are miserable by your own mind clinging to the past.
Listen to everything that comes to you now. That can help you bring you out of your mind. in the other word, you can put the mind aside from you. It has been used all day. Thus, it deserves to take the rest like your body during sleeping.
Don’t assume that your mind will take a rest while you are sleeping, it doesn’t!
Listen to everything … some might misunderstand that it will disturb us. There are some noise from car passing by or the construction of the building outside. They cannot listen to them, so they choose to shut their ears and try to think nothing. However, that will not work for them. Mind just know thinking. It won’t stop, so bring yourself back by listening to everything.
Don’t miss listening otherwise you will miss the present time.
